Bruleed Grapefruit Greyhound

*You will need a creme brulee torch for caramelizing the grapefruit. If you do not have a torch you can place the slices under broiler set to the highest setting. You will not achieve the same crust as you would with a torch but it will still be delicious

Ingredients

  • 4oz grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed

  • 1.5oz lavender infused vodka (recipe below)

  • Fresh Grapefruit, thinly sliced

  • Turbinado sugar (sugar in the raw)

  • Fresh lavender for garnish

FOR THE cocktail

mix together the grapefruit juice and infused vodka into a cocktail glass filled with ice.

Brûléed grapefruit slices by sprinkling a thin coating of sugar over them. Using a creme brulee torch, brulee sugar on grapefruit slices moving the flame back and forth for about 30 seconds until a dark brown crust has formed. Set a slice inside your cocktail with a stem of lavender.

For the lavender vodka

  • 1 750 ml vodka of choice

  •  3-4 sprigs fresh lavender

Rinse lavender and place in a quart sized mason jar or glass bottle with a tight fitting lid.

Pour vodka into a container over the lavender, seal, shake, and store in a dark cool place.  After day 2 start checking vodka for desired taste.  I like to let mine infuse for 2-3 days but you could go longer or shorter depending on taste preference.
